Naked ambition luring tourists to NZ

One woman's naked ambition to lure more tourists to New Zealand by offering naturist adventures is taking flight.

Naturist Kay Hannam said Europe's naturists, particularly from Germany, had traditionally travelled to United States and Canada for their holidays, attracted by low exchange rates. But they were now looking more widely afield and were impressed with what New Zealand had to offer.

Imagine having a Pebble Beach-like course as your personal playground, an elegant but tranquil lodge that caters to your every need, cuisine worthy of the Michelin Guide, and off-course pursuits ranging from helicopter tours to wild boar hunting, and you can begin to understand why Golf Odyssey: The Insider’s Guide to Sophisticated Golf Travel calls New Zealand’s Kauri Cliffs, “the finest single-course golf resort in the world” in it’s January 2008 issue.

Ferry, bus tour of New Zealand wine

Fullers, Auckland's ferry service, offers a wonderful wine tour of Waiheke Island, starting with a 45-minute ferry trip through scenic Hauraki Gulf. You are met by a bus and are taken to three excellent wineries and a boutique olive oil operation.

New Zealand's Priciest Hotel Gets the Gold

The Conde Nast Traveller Gold List for 2008 is out, detailing properties that received the highest ratings in the annual Readers' Travel Awards survey (as well as some editors' favorites), and some truly amazing properties made the roll.

For example, in the Best Ambiance/Design category, the Eagles Nest in Bay of Islands, New Zealand comes in at #1. If you just happen to be looking to drop $1,150 to $3,500 per night, the Eagles Nest may be just the place for you. This ultra-posh complex of five villas is situated on a headland above the sea with sweeping views of the bay, and is known for it's stunning location as much as its superior amenities and service.
